Law enforcers find, defuse gunmen’s ammo in Russia’s Dagestan city

MAKHACHKALA, April 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Checking information about gunmen killed in Russian North Caucasus Dagestan’s city of Derbent law enforcers have found ammunition belonging to killed militants at a garage, a source in the city law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass.

“Explosive devices, components to them and much ammunition were found in the garage. Sappers arrived at the incident site. Explosive devices were unarmed in a safe explosion. No other special operations were carried out in the city,” the source said.

On Saturday, a special operation was carried out in the city of Derbent against dangerous criminals from the “southern” terrorist gang who “intended to commit several terrorist acts in the republic on May holidays.”

Law enforcers tried to stop a car VAZ-2114 at 4pm Moscow time on Saturday at the crossroads of Narimanov and General Saidov Streets in the city of Derbent, the information centre of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said. “Two armed bandits in the car opened fire, one of them was killed in the return fire, another one tried to escape but was found and neutralised hot on his traces,” the committee said. A policeman has got light bullet wounds in the shootout.

Meanwhile, another group of gunmen from the same gang was blocked at a private house in Kollektivnaya Street, where three bandits were killed in the clash.
