Putin to chair State Council meeting on development of rural territories

MOSCOW, April 20, /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will chair a meeting of the State Council and the presidential council on top priority national projects and the demographic policy on Monday, April 21. The meeting will be dedicated to problems of sustainable growth of rural territories, the Kremlin press service reported on Sunday.

“The agenda will include measures aimed at attracting long-term investments to rural areas, and boosting the demand for their production, tourist and recreational potential,” the press service said. “Special attention will be focused on measures of support to small businesses and cooperatives in rural areas as a key measure to prevent outflow of rural population to cities. Other issues to be discussed by the participants in the meeting will include organization of healthcare services, education and social insurance, housing conditions, availability of gas supplies, the quality of motorways and public transport, i.e. the problems that must be solved to increase the attractiveness of rural territories.
