MOSCOW, April 20, /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s emergency situations ministry (EMERCOM) has organised protection from wildfires of over 40 towns in Siberia and Far East, the authority’s deputy head Vladimir Stepanov said on Sunday.
“On Friday only, in Siberia and Far East EMERCOM’s aviation extinguished wildfires at several dozen square metres,” he said. “Most importantly - we have managed to protect over 40 towns, which were close to the fires.”
“We have been using actively EMERCOM’s aviation; as of today, we use 28 aircrafts,” he continued. “Every day the aviation drops over 2,000 tonnes of water on the fires.”
Besides, EMERCOM’s aviation delivers additional firefighters. Over 100 people will be delivered to the Maritime territory.
