Churkin: Kiev sends military to the east because local forces side with protesters

UNITED NATIONS, April 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Authorities in Kiev have sent the military to the country's east because the law enforcement agencies in a number of cities took the side of protesters, Russia's UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said on Sunday.

"Law enforcement units in a number of cities have taken the side of the protesters. Kiev-based authorities now have to fling (protest) suppression forces from other cities into action," the diplomat said.
