Crimean people making part of multiethnic Russian nation is a source of power in the republic. The Constitution stipulates that “a referendum and free elections are a supreme direct expression of people’s power,” seizure of power and illegal taking of ruling powers are impermissible.
The republican Constitution holds that three languages — Russian, Ukrainian and Crimean-Tatar are state languages in Crimea. “The Russian Republic of Crimea recognises a principle of diversity of cultures and ensures their equitable development and mutual enrichment,” the just-endorsed republican Constitution reads.
