STRASBOURG, April 10. /ITAR-TASS/. PACE commission on monitoring has backed an amendment stripping Russia of the right to vote at PACE, take part in missions of PACE observers or be represented at the Presidential committee and the PACE Bureau, head of the Russian delegation to PACE Alexei Pushkov said.

"If the Assembly approves the proposed amendment the restrictions imposed on the Russian delegation will render its activities at PACE pointless," Pushkov said.

On Thursday, PACE intends to revise the powers of the Russian delegation at PACE. On the agenda is a draft resolution which envisages taking sanctions against Russia in "a soft variant" without freezing Russia's membership in PACE.

Finally, PACE has refused to freeze Russia's membership in PACE. The parliamentarians of the Council of Europe have turned down an amendment proposed by Briton Robert Walter who suggested annulment of the powers of the Russian delegation at PACE.
