NOVO-OGAREVO, April 09. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia continues to support the Ukrainian economy by providing multi-million US dollar subsidies, but this cannot go on forever, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with ministers on Wednesday, Aril 9.

“The situation is undoubtedly strange, to put it mildly. As we know, our partners in Europe have recognised the legitimacy of the incumbent Kiev authorities but they are not doing anything to support Ukraine, not a single dollar or euro (has been given),” Putin said. “Russia does not recognise the legitimacy of the authorities in Kiev but continues to provide economic support and subsidise the Ukrainian economy.”

The president stressed that “this situation cannot continue endlessly, of course, but I stress once again that we need to act very carefully in order not to destroy what little is left”.
