BRUSSELS, April 09, /ITAR-TASS/. A four-sided meeting of Russia, Ukraine, the European Union (EU) and the United States will be held next week at the level of foreign-policy chiefs, the press service of Catherine Ashton, EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced on Tuesday night on the strength of the results of her telephone conversation, held earlier, with Russia' Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Ashton stated that the EU supports the Ukrainian authorities' efforts to stabilize the situation. The EU High Commissioner goes ahead with diplomatic efforts towards de-escalating the situation in Ukraine. In this context, Ashton said she would meet with the foreign policy chiefs of the USA, Russia, and Ukraine next week.
The situation in Ukraine will be also evaluated at a routine meeting of the Foreign ministers of 28 EU member-countries on April 14, Ashton's press service announcement pointed out.
Catherine Ashton is currently in Viennas, holding talks on Iran's nuclear program.
