STRASBOURG, April 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s delegation has expressed protest against the draft resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) that calls on Western countries to work out “security agreements for ensuring independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.” This call is contained in the draft resolution on the report “Recent developments in Ukraine: treats to the functioning of democratic institutions” that is planned to be considered on April 9 during an “urgent debate.”

In the document prepared for discussion “PACE expresses serious concern over the Russian military build-up on the Ukrainian border, which may testify to the fact that Russia is considering a possibility of the further unjustified military aggression against Ukraine, which is unacceptable.”

It also states that there is “the risk of destabilisation and aggravation of the security situation in the whole region.”

Deputy head of Russian delegation, chairman of the CIS affairs committee at the State Duma lower house of parliament Leonid Slutsky told reporters: “The meeting of the monitoring commission on considering the PACE draft resolution on Ukraine in an expected way turned into rabid defamation of Russia, its actions in Crimea, absolutely inadmissible fantasies were supported. The report cannot be corrected at all. It should be just totally removed, because it has no place to put a patch on.”

PACE also intends in its urgent debate to discuss the accession of Crimea to Russia.
