Death toll of household gas explosion in Siberia’s Omsk region rises to 2

OMSK, April 06. /ITAR-TASS/. The death toll of household gas explosion rose to two people in settlement Konezavodsky in Maryanovka district in Russian Siberia’s Omsk region, chief press officer of regional emergency situation department Aleksey Puryshev said on Sunday.

“A man was found dead at first. Specialists are trying to identify the second victim of the tragedy. A third dweller that may be trapped under debris remains unclear,” Puryshev said.

Nine people were taken to hospital, including a child in intensive care, Omsk regional investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee said.

The gas explosion went off in the central part of a 12-flat residential house. The residential building suffered strong destruction and there is a threat of further fall of the building that hampers work of rescuers.

A criminal case was opened for causing death through negligence.
