Astrakhan Region Governor Aleksander Zhilkin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov have discussed preparations for the 4th Caspian summit, due to be held in the southern Russian city of Astrakhan, located in the lowest reach of the Volga River, on September 29, 2014.
“Lavrov and Zhilkin gave a high assessment to the Astrakhan Region administration’s efforts to diversify interregional cooperation with foreign partners, including with Caspian littoral states,” the Russian Foreign Ministry says.
“Zhilkin reported on preparations for the Caspian summit,” the ministry says.
In February Zhilkin told Itar-Tass that Astrakhan was actively preparing for the summit.
