Russia’s security service busts designer drug trafficking gang in Moscow region

MOSCOW, April 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Agents of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) have busted an interregional gang trafficking designer drugs, confiscating 420 kilograms of synthetic drugs, the FSB public relations center told ITAR-TASS on Tuesday.

“The FSB has carried out an operation busting an interregional criminal group, members of which had made massive supplies of synthetic drugs in Russia, and illegal wholesale of these drugs to buyers via Internet. A ringleader and active participants of the organized criminal group were found, the role of each of them in the gang rampaging for around two years was established. Non-residential premises they rented to store and pack designer drugs were traced down in Moscow Region,” the FSB public relations centre said.

Four drug traffickers were caught red-handed after information about another supply of a massive batch of drugs meant for further illegal sale was obtained.

“In the search operation, no less than 420 kilograms of different substances, including synthetic drugs, were found and confiscated from illegal circulation. These substances were taken for expertise,” the FSB public relations center noted.

The FSB investigation department opened a criminal case on the strength of evidence gathered in the search operation. The detainees were placed in custody.

“Timely suppression of illegal activity of these suspects affected positively the drug-related crime situation, because drug delivery to different drug trafficking gangs that have bought massive batches of drugs was undermined,” the FSB public relations service said.
