MOSCOW, March 28, /ITAR-TASS/. The market share of domestic food products in Russia should grow. The Russian government gave this instruction to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Economic Development, says a report on the government’s website.
“The food security is based on stable domestic production of farm produce, beefing up of the quality of life of the rural population and the preservation of natural resources for agrarian production,” the document says.
Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture headed by Nikolai Fyodorov and the Ministry of Economic Development, headed by Aleksey Ulyukayev should ensure, jointly with related bodies of executive authorities and organizations, the implementation of the doctrine of food security in the Russian Federation. Special attention should be given to increasing the share of domestic farm produce, fish products and foodstuffs in the total volume of goods resources in the domestic market. The emphasis should also be placed on the development of the infrastructure of the domestic food market and the consolidation of the financial position of organizations in the agro-industrial complex,” the document says.
The government also notes that despite unfavourable weather conditions in 23 regions of the Russian Federation and floods in six regions positive results in the development of agriculture were achieved in 2013.
