MOSCOW, March 28. /ITAR-TASS/. The current sixth State Duma will work its full term, in accordance with the Russian Constitution, lower house speaker Sergei Naryshkin said on Friday.
“The issue of early elections was raised yesterday by the media. Experts have already started to make their analytical calculations,” he said.
Naryshkin noted he would “advise everyone to calm down and get busy.” “The sixth State Duma will work its full term, in accordance with the Russian Constitution,” the speaker stressed.
On Thursday, leader of A Just Russia party Sergei Mironov did not exclude the possibility of holding elections to the State Duma in 2015, and not in 2016 - in the context of Crimea's accession to Russia.
Meanwhile, the head of the Duma relevant committee for constitutional legislation, United Russia member Vladimir Pligin, told ITAR-TASS that “there are no grounds whatsoever at the present time for early elections,” and the “interests of the citizens of the Republic of Crimea and Federal City of Sevastopol will be represented by the current Duma members in accordance with the law on the status of the State Duma deputy and member of the Federation Council of Russia's Federal Assembly.”
