Crimea and Sevastopol are modernisation priorities - lower house of parliament speaker

We don’t forget about other territories like the Far East and East Siberia, the speaker of the State Duma lower house of parliament Sergei Naryshkin says

MOSCOW, March 26, 17:24 /ITAR-TASS/. Crimea’s transport and energy systems should be modernised without delay, the speaker of the State Duma lower house of parliament, Sergei Naryshkin said on Wednesday.

“There are no doubts that Russia’s two new entities - the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol - should be territories of accelerated social and economic development,” Naryshkin added.

“Some people see only problems. But there are many possibilities for state investments and for effective public-private partnership,” he said.

At the same time, Naryshkin said, “We don’t forget about other territories. Decisions have been taken recently to develop regions of the Far East and East Siberia.

“This gives us reasons for holding discussions on the financial system's reaction to new risks and new tasks that the Russian economy is facing these days,” he said.
