Prime Minister Medvedev urges doubling of gas production in Crimea

“According to expert evaluations, this will be enough to compensate for Crimea’s needs of electricity", Prime Minister says

MOSCOW, March 24. /ITAR-TASS/. Natural gas production on the Crimean peninsula must be increased by 1.5-2 times and Russian energy giant Gazprom has already drafted a relevant proposal, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday.

“According to expert evaluations, this will be enough to compensate for Crimea’s needs of electricity,” Medvedev said. “As far as I know, Gazprom already has some initiatives on this matter.”

“The Ministry of Energy must do the necessary calculations and on the whole must attentively follow the developments in the region,” Medvedev added.
