MOSCOW, March 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia voices serious concern over reports on armed escalation of violence in a disengagement zone between Israel and Syria.
“Russia urges the parties to show restraint, avoid provocations and fulfil international obligations,” the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.
“On March 18, an explosive shell injured five Israeli servicemen in the disengagement area on the occupied Golan Heights. Nobody assumed responsibility for the attack,” the ministry said.
In response, Israeli forces delivered air and artillery strikes on the facilities of the Syrian Armed Forces in the Quneitra Governorate. No casualties have been reported.
