MOSCOW, March 18. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian government commission on the legislative drafting activities has approved a bill, aimed at simplifying the procedure of issuing visas for foreign citizens for the entry into Russia.
In particular, the bill proposes to cut the number of documents that foreign citizens are required to produce for getting Russian tourist visas, as well as to extend their maximum term from 30 days to six months and their multiplicity.
The bill is also aimed at the general improvement of the Russian visa practice, creation of the maximally comfortable conditions for the entry into Russia of foreign citizens who come to the country on business affairs.
The bill envisages the simplification of the procedure of entry for foreign citizens whose visits are linked with the development and maintenance of cultural, scientific-technical, socio-political, sport and youth relations. The document provides for the application of the reciprocity principle regarding the extension of the term of business, humanitarian, private and tourist visas. “This will make it possible to considerably ease visa requirements for the citizens of the countries that are ready to ease similar visa requirements for Russian citizens,” believe the authors of the document. The bill will also promote easing visa formalities.
The bill will be considered at a meeting of the Russian government.
