Coal extraction at Ural region coalmine where 2 miners died suspended

KEMEROVO, March 18, /ITAR-TASS/. Coal extraction at coalmine Krasnogorskaya in Russian Urals’ Kemerovo region, where two miners died in rock collapsed overnight to Tuesday, was suspended, Siberian regional emergency situation centre reported on Tuesday.

According to updated reports, 56 from 58 miners went up to the surface, one of them was injured. Two miners died in rock fall in the shaft.

“The reasons for the incident are being looked into. Coalmine Krasnogorskaya in the town of Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo region, suspended coal extraction for the period of eliminating after effects of rock fall,” the emergency situation centre noted.

The regional emergency situation centre reported earlier that rock collapsed in the coalmine due to fall of technical structures.

Gas situation in shafts meets standards.

Coalmine Krasnogorskaya was commissioned in 1949. The enterprise is incorporated in coalmining company Prokopyevskugol which is under management of Kemerovo holding Siberian Business Union. The coalmine is planned to be shut down before the end of this year.
