MOSCOW, March 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Maxim Shevchenko was elected chairman of the ad hoc working group for monitoring the situation in Ukraine under the Russian president’s council on the development of civil society and human rights on Tuesday.

Apart from that, the council at its Tuesday meeting discussed a draft statement on the situation in Ukraine. Shevchenko asked his colleagues to waste no time to "make their amendments and proposals and to voice the position."
