Churkin: Russia calls UNSC meeting to clarify its stance on Ukraine situation

UNITED NATIONS, March 04, /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has called a UN Security Council meeting in order to clarify in detail its position regarding the situation in Ukraine, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told reporters on Monday, heading for the Council meeting.

“I will explain in detail the position of the Russian Federation on the current situation in Ukraine, as well as how the Russian policy in this sphere is being built,” he said.

The UN Security Council has already met twice last week in connection with the situation in Ukraine. On Friday, the Security Council members held a closed-door meeting, and on Saturday - open discussions. Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Yuri Sergeyev was invited to both meetings.
