Patriarch Kirill calls on Turchinov to spare no effort to stop ethnic discrimination

MOSCOW, March 02, /ITAR-TASS/. Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill has called on Ukraine’s acting President Alexander Turchinov to spare no effort to prevent violence in Ukraine and religious and ethnic discrimination, the patriarch’s press secretary, Deacon Alexander Volkov, told Itar-Tass on Sunday.

In a telephone conversation “the sides exchanged views on the current situation in Ukraine. The Russian patriarch heard out Alexander Turchinov’s position,” Father Alexander said.

The patriarch expressed deep concern over the recent development in Ukraine. “The patriarch believes it is necessary to spare no effort to stop people’s sufferings, to avoid any manifestations of violence and any religious or ethnic discrimination,” the press secretary said.
