Russia's Vice-Premier to visit construction of Vostochny spaceport on Monday

BLAGOVESHCHENSK, February 24, 6:17 /ITAR-TASS/ Yuri Trutnev, RF plenipotentiary presidential representative in the Far Eastern Federal District, RF Vice-Premier Dmitry Rogozin on Monday will discuss the potential of cosmodrome Vostochny (eastern) which is under construction in the Amur Region. Trutnev told journalists about that here on Sunday, February 23. "Tomorrow (on Monday) we shall visit Uglegorsk to discuss what the cosmodrome can bring into being around it as a point of growth and to what extent it can attract labur force, building and service organizations which will enable the local residents to live better," he said.

Svetlana Glushchenko, leading specialist of the public relations department of the press service of the Spetsstroj (specil-purpos construction) of Russia (Spetsstroj is the general contractor of the space construction project), told Itar-Tass that Federal Space Agency Director Oleg Ostapenko would also visit the construction project on Monday.

"Together with the SpetsStroj management, Ostapenko and Rogozin will fly over ground space infrastructure facilities and inspect the launch and engineering systems, the industrial operational building base, the main step-down substation of the outer power supply circuit, and a residential neighbourhood," Glushchenko said.

The construction of the cosmodrome Vostochny, near Uglegorsk Township in Amur Region, was started in the middle of 2012. The first launch of a spacecraft is to be carried out by 2015 and the launchings of manned spaceships are to begin by 2018.
