WMD troops ready to use hardware in tropics, Arctic region

Western Military District commander declined to comment on a possibility to create an Arctic united strategic command

ST. PETERSBURG, February 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Troops of the Western Military District (WMD) are ready to use hardware and armament in the tropics and in the Arctic region, WMD Commander Anatoly Sidorov said on Friday.

“Hardware and armament are ready to be used in the tropics and in the Arctic region. Their tactical and technical performance permits,” Sidorov told a news conference at the Itar-Tass press centre.

There are special models of hardware to be used by northern units, the WMD commander said.

He declined to comment on a possibility to create an Arctic united strategic command. “Such issues are in the competence of the country’s leadership. When we receive instructions we’ll fulfill them,” Sidorov said.
