Lavrov: Free trade, not politics, in east-west project moves

MOSCOW, February 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Politics has no place in projects to integrate trade between the European Union (EU) and the proposed Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“We are keen to move towards a free trade zone," he said of a project to build a wider regional community based on the existing customs union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

“This would be a strong political signal to all countries which are not members of the EU and the EEU that there is no need to try to fiddle with disagreements, that there are no disagreements and that we have a common goal of creating a common economic and humanitarian space,” he said.
