State Duma believes it is timely to talk about prospects for selling Russia’s citizenship

MOSCOW, February 12. /ITAR-TASS/. The State Duma, lower house of parliament, believes that it is timely to talk about prospects for realising an idea on selling Russia’s citizenship.

“There is no such draft law in the house. It is timely to talk about such prospects,” deputy chairman of the Committee for Constitutional Legislation and State Construction Dmitry Vyatkin told Itar-Tass.

The lawmaker commented on mass media reports on a possibility to grant Russia’s citizenship at the sum of 10 million roubles.

At the same time, Vyatkin said the so-called sale of citizenship had been legalised in many countries of North America, Europe and Asia.

“It’s early to talk about such practice in Russia,” he said, adding “We don’t know what the government will offer us. The devil is in the detail."
