SOCHI, February 08, 11:06 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin talked to Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich. The meeting took place late on Friday afternoon on the margins of the opening ceremony of the Winter Games in Sochi, press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said.
Putin has already had meeting with foreign leaders, who arrived for the opening of the Olympic Games. He met leaders of China, Tajikistan, the Netherlands, Turkey, and during the reception exchanged views with almost every second of the 44 leaders. On Saturday, Putin will have meetings with Japan’s prime minister and Kyrgyzstan’s president.
Earlier, Putin told reporters he planned to discuss the international agenda with foreign counterparts.
“I am sure will shall use the opportunity /the Olympic Games/ to speak in a quiet, friendly environment,” Putin said.
