Russia’s official unemployment rate ups almost 3% since December 2013

MOSCOW, February 05. /ITAR-TASS/. As many as 917,100 unemployed people were officially registered in Russia as of the end of January 2014, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said on Wednesday.

“In the period from December 18, 2013, through January 29, 2014, the officially registered unemployment rate went up by 3.2% (28,805 people) to total 917,139 people as of January 29,” the press service said.

Over the designated period, 75 Russian regions reported the growth in the unemployment rate. The biggest hike in the indicator was registered in the Astrakhan, Sakhalin, Kursk and Rostov regions.

The Ministry registered the decline in the unemployment rate in eight regions of the country, including the biggest drop in the indicator was reported from the Nenets Autonomous Area.

According to the ministry’s press service, the total number of part-time employees and those, who are on vacation leave on mutual agreement by the sides, amounted to 176,529 people as of January 29.
