KIROV, February 05. /ITAR-TASS/. The fire is localized at a railway station in the northern Russian city of Kirov, where gas condensate tanks are on fire, press service of regional emergency situation department reported on Wednesday.
The fire is planned to put out completely by the noon. “Forces are enough; there is no threat to residential houses and neighbourly buildings. Evacuated dwellers are staying at a local house of culture and a school, where warm-up stations and food and psychological consultations are provided,” the press service said.
Four residential houses and several private houses are situated in the incident area, a total of 492 dwellers are evacuated. No people were hurt.
“I have visited the site where several wagons derailed and gas condensate tanks caught fire in Novovyatsky district at 07:30 Moscow time. A total of 492 people were evacuated. No people were hurt in the incident,” acting Governor of Kirov Region Nikita Belykh wrote down on his Twitter page. “Emergency situation, police, railway and utility services are working in well-coordinated way,” he said.
More than 10 passenger trains, including two international trains are delayed for several hours.
A fire train is working at the incident site, the press service of Gorkovskaya Railway reported. Other two fire trains and five repair trains are on the way to the incident site.
A committee of the leadership of OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) and Gorkovskaya Railway went to the incident site.
“The Volga transport investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Article 263 Part 1 of Russia’s Criminal Code for violation of railway traffic safety rules and train steering rules to find all details of the railway incident,” the Russian Investigative Committee told Itar-Tass.
