Kazakhstan, Russia to promote further defense co-operation

ASTANA, January 31. /ITAR-TASS/. Kazakhstan and Russia progressively develop interaction in the defense sphere, resolving all problematic issues in a constructive way, a spokesman for Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbaev said after a meeting of Nazarbaev with Russian Defense Minister General Sergey Shoigu on Friday.

The parties discussed “the main directions for strengthening bilateral military and military-technical co-operation”, the spokesman said.

Nazarbaev stressed that “all existing questions are being currently tackled within friendly and trustworthy relations between our two countries”.

“Therefore, this visit should also strengthen our further co-operation,” he said.

“Shoigu thanked the president for the meeting and told him about the negotiations he had held with Kazakhstan’s Minister of Defense before,” the spokesman said.
