Emergencies minister asks regions to take measures against severe frost

Vladimir Puchkov also calls for providing assistance to the most vulnerable groups - veterans, disabled persons and multi-child families

MOSCOW, January 30. /ITAR-TASS/. Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov has set the task to take measures to make transport and housing and communal facilities to work regularly despite severe frost.

“Today the minister has sent a telegram to the leadership of 16 Russian regions due to the unfavorable weather conditioned by low temperatures and heavy snowfalls,” the Emergency Situations Ministry’s press service told Itar-Tass.

The telegram has been sent to the authorities of the republics of Adygeya, Dagestan, Karachayevo-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia, Sakha (Yakutia), Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Rostov, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Sverdlovsk and Kurgan Regions, Khanty-Mansi and Chukotka Autonomous Areas, the press service said.

The minister calls for riveting attention to “heating, energy and water supplies, the functioning of the transport infrastructure - airports, railways and highways.” Puchkov also calls for providing assistance to the most vulnerable groups - veterans, disabled persons and multi-child families.

“The emergencies minister recommended administrative authorities to increase the readiness of all means and forces, to inform the population about the situation and the measures taken to prevent emergency situations,” the press service said.
