BRUSSELS, January 28, 21:19 /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine has asked a delay in payment for Russian gas sold at cut prices, Russian President Vladimir Putin told a news conference on Tuesday after the Russia-European Union summit.
“I have been told that the Ukrainian side is asking for a delay in payment for the gas it has bought at already reduced prices,” he said. “It is a very difficult situation for us as well, for Gazprom’s economy, since these proceeds have been already fixed in its investment plans.”
Nonetheless, Putin pledged to continue cooperation with Ukrainian partners regardless of who comes at the head of its government.
