MOSCOW, January 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Anti-terrorist operations are currently underway in two regions of Dagestan, Russia’s North Caucasus republic, sources from the National Antiterrorism Committee have told Itar-Tass.

“Anti-terrorist operations against gunmen are underway in two regions of Dagestan,” they said.

An object resembling an explosive device was found at a building housing authorities in village Ashaga-Stal in Russia’s North Caucasian Republic of Dagestan on Tuesday morning, a source in republican law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass.

“Initial examination of the object by police dog handlers with sniffer dogs showed that explosives may be inside it. Sappers were called to unarm it. They are working with it,” the source said.

Earlier, Dagestan’s law enforcement officer told Itar-Tass that a house with gunmen hiding in it had been blocked on Tuesday morning in the settlement of Vinsovkhozny outside the city of Khasavyurt. “The active phase of the special operation has not started as of yet. Negotiations are underway. Supposedly there are up to three gunmen from a local armed gang in the house,” the source said.

In another development, law enforcement officers have blocked a house in the settlement of Stalskoye, Kizilyurt region.
