MOSCOW, January 18, /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian cabinet has approved a resolution for the government to appoint rectors to its Finance University, the Higher School of Economics and the Ilya Glazunov Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, as is reported in a statement on the cabinet's website.
Rectors of the higher education institutions, in accordance with their charters, previously were elected by conferences of scientific and pedagogical staffs and students, and then confirmed by the government.
Henceforth, the government will appoint and dismiss rectors of the educational organizations, which are within its jurisdiction.
