Several people wounded in explosions in North Caucasian city

The first explosion had been caused by a grenade fired from a grenade-launcher, in the second case, a car exploded

MAKHACHKALA, January 17, 21:07 /ITAR-TASS/. At least two policemen and five civilians were injured in Makhachkala, the capital of Russia’s North Caucasian region of Dagestan Friday night. All of them were rushed to hospital, a spokesman for the regional Interior Ministry said.

“Two policemen were injured by the second explosion. As for the number of injured civilians, we’re clarifying it now”, he said.

The press service of the Interior Ministry said earlier that the first explosion had been caused by a grenade fired from a grenade-launcher and apparently targeting the second story of a restaurant building.

In the second case, a car parked by the roadside exploded.
