Defense Ministry hopes for contract on delivery of 16 fighters MiG-29 in 2014

MOSCOW, January 16. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry hopes to conclude a contract for delivery of 16 fighters MiG-29SMT to the country’s Air Force within next few months, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov told reporters on Thursday.

In his words, this contract can be concluded in the first quarter of this year. Russian government should issue a resolution within these deadlines on the only supplier under this contract, Borisov noted.

“If the Defense Ministry has purchased 1-2 fighters annually five years ago, the ministry will buy around 100 airplanes and more than 100 helicopters in 2014,” the deputy defense minister noted.
