MOSCOW, January 16. /ITAR-TASS/. President Vladimir Putin said he would do everything possible to make Russia’s presidency in the Group of Eight and the G8 summit in Sochi on June 4-5 successful.
Russia’s presidency in the G8 is aimed at searching for common approaches towards countering modern threats to security and ensuring sustainable development, the president said.
Russia “will act thoughtfully, responsibly and predictably. We intend to defend traditional values and the norms of international law and contribute to fruitful cultural, interreligious and inter-civilized cooperation”, he said.
