NATO format in Afghanistan should take into account results of coalition’s work

MOSCOW, January 15. /ITAR-TASS/. A format of NATO’s presence in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the coalition’s troops should take into account the results of its work, presidential special envoy for the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) affairs Kirill Barsky told a news conference on Wednesday.

“We hope that NATO countries will inform us on the fulfillment of the U.N. Security Council mandate. So, a new mission, which should be approved by the U.N. Security Council, its functions and its mandate will be formed based on the mission’s stay in Afghanistan,” the official said, adding that Russia “has taken part in discussions on this issue”.
