Russian migration service reports more than 3 million illegal aliens

MOSCOW, January 15. /ITAR-TASS/. There are more than 3.6 million illegal aliens in the country at present, a Federal Migration Service official told a news conference at Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

"According to the data collected by our information system, there are more than 3.6 million migrants who are staying in the country illegally," deputy head of the FMS department for work with foreigners Dmitry Demidenko said.

"Despite the measures, such as patenting or changes in migration registration, we believe that a considerable number of persons do not legalize their stay for some reason, despite the available opportunities," Demidenko said.

"Of course, we'll say goodbye to these people, and it's going to be a long goodbye," he said.
