Air authorities restricts transportation of liquids on planes

Rosaviatsia asked passengers to show understanding and arrive at airports well in advance

MOSCOW, January 08, 18:05 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Federal Air Transportation Agency (Rosaviatsia) has sent instructions to all airports, restricting the transportation of liquids aboard planes as carry-on baggage.

“The threat of terrorist acts aboard airplanes using homemade explosives remains,” the Agency said on Wednesday, January 8. It instructed airports to take additional measures to ensure security.

Any liquids and personal care products in carry-on luggage are advised to be checked in. “All checked items are to be examined using technical means and placed aboard a plane in baggage holds,” the Agency said.

As for medicines and personal care products a passenger may need during the flight, “they are not prohibited and may be left in carry-on baggage after their identification by the airport authorities and security checks using technical means of examination and explosive detection.”

Rosaviatsia asked passengers to show understanding and arrive at airports well in advance.
