RF Defence Ministry to set up centre of unmanned aircraft

MOSCOW, January 4 (Itar-Tass) A state-run centre of unmanned aircraft of the Russian Defence Ministry will be set up this year, the Defence Ministry's press service told Itar-Tass.

It will be formed at the existing base of the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicles) centre, which trained more than 800 specialists in 2013 to use latest systems with UAVs. Along with training of personnel, specialists of the centre also actively participate in combat training. More than 1,000 UAV flights were carried out in 2013 under the plan.Before being accepted for service, UAVs are tested at the centre under conditions similar to real combat operations. Its specialists' recommendations are used in developing work.
