Criminal proceedings instituted in connection with attack on cash-in-transit guards

MOSCOW, December 30, 5:21 /ITAR-TASS/. Criminal proceedings have been instituted in connection with an armed attack on cash-in-transit guards, in which one of the guards was killed, an official at Main Investigation Directorate for Moscow Region told Itar-Tass.

At 23:20 on Sunday, law enforcement agencies received a message about an attack in Lyubertsy District on three cash-in-transit guards. One of the guards was killed, another one received a gunshot wound in the leg, and the third one was unhurt. The attackers managed to seize a bag containing 12 million roubles.

In connection with the fact, the inquiry agencies of the Investigation Committee for the Moscow Region instituted criminal proceedings on the strength of signs of a crime listed in Article 105, Part 2, of the Penal Code of the Russian Federation (murder connected with robbery)," the Directorate official said.

According to investigators, two unidentified men attacked three cash-in-transit guards at an underoof parking lot of the Mega-2 shopping center. In the process the attackers were firing from an automatic rifle and a pistol.

The investigators are now busy surveying the scene of the incident. "Six pistol cartridge cases and and one from an automatic rifle have been found," the Directorate official specified.

A set of investigative actions and operational-and-search activities are being carried out with a view to establishing all the circumstances of the crime, as well as persons involved in committing it.
