Pyatigorsk car blast kills three occasional passersby

The site has been cordoned off, people are being evacuated from nearby buildings

MOSCOW, December 27, 22:27 /ITAR-TASS/. A car explosion in Russia’s southern city of Pyatigorsk killed three occasional passersby, the press service of the Russian interior ministry told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“The press service of the Russian interior ministry confirms information about a car blast near a furniture shop in Pyatigirsk. According to preliminary data, the blast killed three occasional passersby.”

Earlier on Friday, the press service of the territorial police department said that the incident had been reported at 19:15 Moscow time. “The blast occurred in a car that had been parked for a long time near house number 2 in Cherkesskoye Highway. The number of the casualties is being verified,” the press service said.

The site has been cordoned off, people are being evacuated from nearby buildings. Bomb engineers are working at the site.
