Udmurtia declares two-day mourning for world famous weapons designer Mikhail Kalashnikov

IZHEVSK, December 25. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Republic of Udmurtia has declared a two-day mourning for world famous weapons designer Mikhail Kalashnikov on December 26-27.

Head of the regional administration of Udmurtia Alexander Volkov signed a decree " On declaring mourning in connection with the death of Mikhail Kalashnikov. The decree stipulates that the state flags of the Russian Federation and Udmurtia shall be lowered to half-mast, and teleradio companies and the establishments of culture in Udmurtia will be recommended to cancel shows and all other entertainment programs while the mourning for Kalashnikov continues.

A mourning ceremony for Mikhail Kalashnikov will be held at St. Mikhail Cathedral in Izhevsk since 6.00 pm until 10.00 pm Wednesday and since 10.00 am until 1.00 pm Thursday. Mikhail Kalashnikov will be buried on the territory of the Federal military memorial complex in the Moscow region on December 27.

The legendary author of the "Kalashnikov gun", Mikhail Kalashnikov, passed away in Izhevsk on December 23 after a long illness. He was 94.
