EMERCOM to beef up forces in Far East fearing floods

MOSCOW, December 24. /ITAR-TASS/. The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) will double its strength in the region in view of unfavorable flood forecasts, EMERCOM minister Vladimir Puchkov said on Tuesday.

He said the region hit by massive floods in summer saw a high level of ground water and the snow level was already high.

EMERCOM units in the Far East have received hardware and equipment used in coping with flood aftermaths, including a mobile hospital, the minister said.
