MOSCOW, December 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Japan’s Emperor Akihito on his 80th birthday and wished him Happy New Year, the presidential website says.
The president wished the monarch “health and happiness, and prosperity to all the people of friendly Japan”.
Putin stressed in his message of greetings that he was pleased to note positive dynamics in relations between Russia and Japan, the enhanced constructive dialogue and mutually beneficial co-operation in various fields.
“I am confident that further enhancement of the Russian-Japanese ties in the spirit of a genuine partnership serves the vital interests of our people and contributes to stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region,” Putin said.
