MOSCOW, December 23. /ITAR-TASS/. In 2018 Russia’s Air Force will receive a new refueling aircraft, Commander of RF Air Force Long-Range Aviation Lieutenant General Anatoly Zhikharev said on the Rossiya 24 news TV channel on Monday.
“This aircraft will work in the interests of not only strategic, but also tactical aviation,” he said.
The only specialized refueling aircraft in the Russian Air Force at present is the Ilyushin IL-78 plane that was created on the base of the IL-76MD transport plane. The Long-Range Aviation commander said that that the new plane would have considerably improved capability and would be able to carry more fuel.
