LIPETSK, December 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The state-run company Avtodor introduces a pay-and-ride mode of traffic on a new 82-km section of the Federal Road M-4 Don in Lipetsk Region on Monday. A toll is to be charged on the 330.8-414.7 km section of the Road, in circumvention of Yarkino Village and the city of Yelets.
The new road section was built and opened to traffic in 2011. The separation of traffic flows, the lack of traffic-lights or same-level intersections with secondary roads have made it possible to allow an increased speed of up to 110-km/hr for cars, and for trucks with a permitted weight of up to 3.5 tonnes.
In 2011, following the construction of new road sections in circumvention of the towns of Bogoroditsk, Yefremov, Yarkino, and Yelets, the M-4 became a four-lane motor road from Moscow to Voronezh.
In accordance with the long-term program for the activities of the Avtodor Company for a period until 2020, about 800 km of the Road out of 1,500 km will be reconstructed or built by 2020. A toll will be levied on motor vehicles on a stretch of 890 km of the Federal Road.
