Businessman from Volga city convicted for masterminding attack on Russian journalist

MOSCOW, December 20. /ITAR-TASS/. The Lyublino court in Moscow sentenced Friday businessman from the Volga river city of Naberezhnye Chelny Pavel Sopota to seven years in high security prison for masterminding an attack on journalist of Novaya Gazeta newspaper Igor Domnikov.

The court has found Sopota guilty of masterminding an attack, in which the journalist was killed due to a heavy bodily damage.

The perpetrators of the attack were previously sentenced to long terms in prison.

Domnikov was attacked on May 12, 2000. The bandits have beaten the journalist to death by the hammers.
