MOSCOW, December 19. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday his country’s main task at the Winter Olympic Games in the Black Sea resort of Sochi was to create equal conditions for all athletes irrespective of what country they represent.
“This is our number one mission, it is an important mission,” Putin added, declining to make any forecasts about medals Russian athletes would be able to win in February. “What I expect from our athletes is that they should demonstrate their proficiency and character and give us an occasion for rejoicing,” he said. “It is difficult to foresee by 100 percent how even most outstanding athletes will show themselves.
